Using the OONI propane pizza oven.
The Ooni pizza oven from my experience gets too hot misses the mark sort a speak if I may compare it to my electric pizza oven which is 500 degrees Fahrenheit versus the Ooni that’s 900 degrees its just to fast for me there is no time for the dough to settle.
How ever I’ve gotten better results using a raised grille not putting the pizza directly on the stone itself, it seems the larger the pizza the closer it gets to the flame the faster it burns. Don’t feel left out if you brought, the Ooni pizza oven does have many functions from roasting corn to cooking different types of meals.
Making your own dough
You can control heat dissipation by making thicker dough, removing the pizza as fast as you can rotating from time to time, doesn’t hurt to add a bit of olive oil to the bottom of the crust you will start to get better results.
Checking your temperature
Using a laser probe is the proper way to get an accurate reading off the stone itself it gets very hot try not to come in close, using the control knob you can adjust from low to high and can also turn it off if it gets too hot.
Temperature adjustment
The ideal settings for pizza is not 900 degrees trust me it is 500 so try and keep at five hundred and you will have better results using the same method mentioned below you may want to take the pizza out once or twice to give the dough time to absorb the heat at a slower rate.
Using a skillet in the Ooni pizza oven is probably best for cooking
A cast iron skillet is best to use with the Ooni pizza oven making other meals other than just pizza do not limit yourself to just that, anything from roasted corn to vegetables and so forth
